More than three thousand Mercedes-Benz, 2008 S Class luxury cars are being recalled for an auto defect due to a faulty transistor.
“A malfunction may occur on the signal acquisition and actuation module” that controls vehicle some vehicle functions, including the center console lighting, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The transistors were not properly stored and therefore exposed to excess humidity. The combined moisture with thermal stress may cause damage to the transistors and prevent them from properly functioning which can increase the risk of an accident occurring, according to the NHTSA.
The recall will begin in May. Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect and replace the transistors free of charge.
