A Corpus Christi man traveling westbound on South Padre Island Drive, SPID, was killed in a fatal car – motorcycle accident when he lost control of his bike on Monday.
According to police, the man, 30, lost control of the motorcycle when he attempted to pass an 18-wheeler on the freeway. He was thrown from the bike when it struck a concrete barrier on the side of the highway.
He was then hit by another driver and dragged several hundred feet. He died at the scene.
Speed was likely the cause of the accident, according to police and the woman that hit him was not at fault nor will she be charged.
All three lanes on SPID at the accident scene were closed for more than two hours while police sorted out what caused the accident and had the wreckage removed from the scene.
