A maritime accident in the Gulf of Mexico killed a fisherman at the end of August. The fishing boat was about 12 miles south of South Padre Island, Texas when the accident occurred. His body was recovered by the United States Coast Guard.

It is believed the victim

was doing maintenance work when a cable broke, struck him — and he ended up tangled in the rigging.

Another person on the boat called the Coast Guard.

The man was aboard a shrimp boat at the time of the accident. The accident is being investigated and an autopsy has been ordered.
