Target Stores, in cooperation with the CPSC, announced a voluntary recall of more than 350,000 Woven Storage Trunks because the lid on the trunk can suddenly drop when released, posing a strangulation hazard.

To this date, the company has received two reports of injuries. One report included an 18-month-old girl who reportedly suffered brain damage when the trunk lid came down on the back of her neck, pinning her throat against the rim of the trunk.

The recall includes 14 different models of the storage trunks that are made of woven rattan, abaca or banana leaf with standard hinges. They were sold nationwide at Target stores.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled products and to return them to any Target store for a replacement or refund.

Call Target at (800) 440-0680 or visit their Web site for more information.
