Leopard Highchairs Recalled By IKEA

Comments Off

IKEA in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Commission (CPSC) initiated a voluntary recall of LEOPARD Highchairs because the snap locks that secure the seat to the frame can break, posing a fall hazard to small children. Once detached, the locks pose a choking hazard.

According to the agency, to this date, the company has received 11 reports of failing snap locks. In one report, a child suffered bruised legs when he fell through the frame. The reports were received worldwide; however none were reported in the U.S.

The recalled highchairs involve all colors of the LEOPARD Highchairs sold as a seat and frame separately. The five-digit supplier number 19589 can be found on an adhesive label affixed to the bottom of the seat.

The items were sold exclusively at IKEA stores nationwide from October to November 2009.

Consumers are advised to stop using the highchairs and to return them to any IKEA store for a refund.
